# Can Kopia create and restore from snapshots of boot volumes

Suppose that our system is left in an unbootable state, but it was bootable yesterday. Is it possible to create a snapshot of the **root** directory yesterday with Kopia so that we can go back to the old correct system setup now? What is the best way to do that?

This question applies to windows/macOS/unix/etc.
