user add
set global policies
snapshots
… and so on

everything I changed after server start, kopiaUI (s3) stays for 5-30minutes and then
somehow every setting is deleted.
not even a trace of it in the log.

you don’t have to do anything,
just start them with s3 compatible and wait,
even the default global policy is gone!

conclusion: some s3 compatible storages can’t be used with kopia.

Which storage backend is that?

Can you try `kopia repo validate-provider` ?

It’s happening on iDrive e2. Worked well for a time. They must have changed something on their end. I’ve commented on this in github as well…

See kopia list returns inconsistent results on Idrive E2 #2426
