# Unable to modify global policy on server

One kopia server running on a distant Mac and three users running on the same client Mac. Everything is fine, snapshots can be done, except that I cannot modify the global policy (I tried via kopiaUI for each user). I got the message _ **Error saving policy: internal server error: unable to set policy: error writing policy manifest: unable to delete previous manifest: access denied** _

nixcamic got the same problem [(link here)](https://kopia.discourse.group/t/unable-to-modify-policies/2003) but his solution does work for me, the dates are correct on both Macs.

Any idea?

It’s OK now. I misunderstood what Global Policy means in case of a server. It is a policy for all snapshots AND for all users. I previously believed that there is global policy per user which applies to all his own snapshots.

I just connected to the repository via kopiaUI without starting the server and modified the global policy. Et hop, everything is OK now.
