I back up a local directory of images to both NAS and cloud. When this directory has no changes, the NAS backup requires 1 minute, and the cloud backup requires 5 minutes.
Why is so much time required for either backup if no changes to files have been made?
Why do the two times differ so much? Is Kopia searching for something in my cloud storage?
The difference is probably mostly due to higher latencies when dealing with the cloud repo. Kopia still has to read from the repo and all these small packets’ latencies can add up to such an amount.
In case you have not tested that, restores usually also take way longer from any cloud based repo, than a local storage or a NAS on your local backup…
