Hi folks,
I found out that maintenance had not been running for some time, because an external user was set as the maintenance owner. I fixed that and enabled quick maintenance (full was already enabled). To reduce number of snapshot, I also disabled hourly, monthly and annual snapshots.
After making these changes, I noticed several snapshots without any tag so I ran full maintenance few times. However, even after more than 36h, these untagged snapshots remained and the data on s3 backend storage had not been freed up.
I manually deleted some old untagged snapshots and I read that it’s generally not recommended to use flag “–safety=none”, but since I was certain no backups were running at the time and urgently needed to free up space, I went ahead with this.
This has helped to clear a significant amount of storage, but untagged snapshots are still visible.
Any idea what’s going on? Why wasn’t the data size on S3 storage reduced? And why are old snapshots with no tags still visible?
Thank you.
