Error with Email Notifications to Office 365

Hi all,

I am looking to configure email notifications from Kopia using the Microsoft Office 365 SMTP server, however, I am getting the following message when attempting a test email:

“Error sending notification: unable to send notification: unable to send notification message: 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type [LO2P265CA0313.GBRP265.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM 2025-04-23T01:45:31.751Z 08DD8112E7892FAD]”

I have Office 365 SMTP Auth using STARTTLS emails configured for various services without issue, looking through the documentation, I cannot see any configuration options for security related settings, aside from selecting the port.

Is there any way to get this working?

Hi, I am using kopia in an environment where the “internal” SMTP server (not controlled by me) does not support SMTP AUTH. Also, it seems that STARTTLS fails sometimes. Would it be possible to have SMT AUTH and TLS optional?
