Move file to new computer

Hello everyone,

I have a new computer and I want to move my file from my old one to this new one.
I could just install kopia on the other, mount my backups and redownload the whole thing but it would be much more slower than copy the files over ssh.

If I copy the whole folder and then connect kopia, will it resume correctly thinking it’s the same files as the other computer ? My concern is kopia thinking the file has been modified somehow and then try to resync the whole thing.

Kopia won’t copy the same data again. Nothing to worry about. But first backup from your new machine can take a bit longer as kopia will have to scan all files to double check if nothing changed.

Do I need to preserve file attributes (ex: with rsync) or kopia use a checksum of each file ?

Kopia will use checksums (hence longer time for first backup)
