So, this is my first post here after using any backup solution for the first time in my life.
I would like to know if I could store the files like kopia.blobcfg.f, kopia.maintenance.f, kopia.repository.f, xe4.f, xe5.f, xe6.f, etc. over the cloud. It all looks encrypted without any meaningful data, but I would like to confirm it.
Thanks for your time for really basic question.

Yes you can but what is the real problem you are trying to solve by copying some repo files somewhere else?

Thank you for your reply!
I have 1 physical external hard disk and 1 shared network drive. Currently, I am using external hard disk for Kopia repo to save. I tried network drive but after rebooting macOS or after any snapshot, i have to run dot_clean command to connect to repo again. When doing backups on external drive works, I would like to sync a copy of backups away from my physical location, onto some cloud preferably.
But, I was confused whether to store files like kopia.blobcfg.f, kopia.maintenance.f, kopia.repository.f, etc. in the same place where encrypted snapshots will be stored. Thank you for clearing my doubt.
One more thing I would like to ask is about the ._ files and Kopia not ignoring them. Is there any solution other than running a launchctl script to remove those files? Will Kopia, in future, be able to ignore those files?
I think this can be fixed. How do you access your network drive? SMB? Is it NAS?
It is NAS. According to kopia issue 3022 and Why are dot underscore ._ files created, and how can I avoid them?, they will always be created by macOS if the destination drive is not HFS+ (Apple native) or Unix/UFS volumes. I am not the admin of the NAS, So i don’t know how to filter out these ._ files.
Although when given more thought, I think the problem is with Kopia repo and ._ files created if the Kopia repo is on non-Unix/UFS volumes. My physical drive which is formated to encrypted APFS runs Kopia without any issue. When encountered for the first time, I decided to run a launchctl script every 10 mins to remove ._ files, but even doing so, I encountered errors when Kopia tried to do maintenance saying that specific blobs with random names not found.
You can have your kopia backup on local disk and then copy/sync it to NAS using other means (rsync/rclone/copy).
But I think it would be much better to have two independent backups. AFAIK there is no ._ “problem” fix today. Ideally kopia should be aware of these files existence but it is not until somebody spends time on development. As this is only macOS issue and only affecting very specific situations I doubt it will have any priority…
I would suggest that you ask NAS owner to share this directory with you using protocol like SFTP or WebDAV. Then you can create kopia repository directly and ._ issue won’t exist.
I am currently having my Kopia repo on External Drive and syncing that with help of rsync command running every hour.
Thanks kapitainsky for your support and suggestion.
