I’m quite impressed with the capabilities and flexibility of Kopia, and I’m currently trying to get to grips with it. I’ve successfully created a snapshot but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the extensive customization options, particularly regarding resource efficiency.
I’m looking for some guidance or shared experiences on setting up basic policies or configs. My goal is to achieve a balance between simplicity and effectiveness. Here’s what I’m considering for my ~/ home folder backup:
- Ignoring Files: Should I use a .gitignore-like approach to exclude certain files?
- Compression: Is zstd a good choice for compression? Or are there better alternatives for a general-purpose backup?
I’d greatly appreciate any pointers to guides, blog posts, or resources that offer a “set it and forget it” approach to Kopia. I want to avoid unnecessary complexity and inefficiency in my backups.
