Hello!
Due to limitations in my network, it’s impossible to use the solution proposed here. The user running kopia isn’t an administrator. Furthermore, the user never knows the administrator password. Furthermore, the administrator password changes.
I had an idea. Why can’t I use the existing shadow copies that are automatically created on the computer where kopia is running? After all, a regular user can restore files from the “Previous Version” option in the folder or drive properties. I think it’s better to use latest shadow copy to create scheduled backup in kopia.
AFAIK, we can mount a shadow copy as a folder, create a backup from it, and then unmount the folder. The steps are similar to the method suggested in the official documentation, but you don’t need to waste time creating a shadow copy now.
