Kopia compression of files on versioning enabled bucket

I am using the latest version of Kopia (0.10.6) with a AWS bucket where versioning has been enabled.
When Kopia compression is executed, there would be some files that are updated/deleted.

Since, Kopia will not be using the older version of files, these multiple versioned old files will add up to the cost and as they are not needed anymore, it would be better to delete them completely.
Is there a way where older versions of objects that are created during maintenance be deleted by Kopia?

Wouldn’t you need to turn off versioning on AWS?

What if we do not have control over the permissions set for the bucket.
