Windows can not boot what now?

Hi,

I used kopia-ui to create a backup on a usb storage. The windows machine I used to create the backup currently no longer boots and I want to recover the files.

I did not pay much attention to the process but right now I am starting to wonder :P.. I mounted the disk under Linux and it asks me for a user, host and password. Are those 3 connected? (e.g. is the password user depended? if so.. can I list the user/hosts from the repository before connecting to it or do I need to do some magic to recover at least the user and host?

I had a peak at the repo json AES256_GCM is used

Well… first and foremost… you will need the repo password. Without that your data will be nohting but white noise…I also suggest to use the stick with the same OS as before (Windows). And who is actually asking you for a user/host/password? Did you try to connect to the repo data using Kopia on Linux?
